Wyatt

I was driving home at about 11:30 at night about two months ago...minding my own business when I saw a flash of two eyes in my headlights and a little fluff of black and white fur right on the edge of the road. Mind you, I was going about 55 miles per hour so it was a blink and you'll miss it kind of thing. My first thought was that it was a skunk, so I breathed a sigh of relief that I hadn't hit it because THAT would be super stinky. But the image processed in my mind and I distinctly remember thinking, 'that was NOT a skunk...'. I slowed down (this is a deserted country road) and turned around. Rolling my windows down I started calling, 'here kitty, kitty, kitty' in a high pitched voice, and just as I knew I would hear, I heard a tiny, helpless little 'mew!' coming from the side of the road. My heart raced...just a few days before I talked to J about getting a kitten and he agreed that we could when we got our new place. I knew from that moment that this was going to be MY kitten, but I had to find him first! I pulled off to the side of the road and turned on my hazard lights, pulled out my cell phone and turned on the flashlight app (most helpful app in the world, I might add). I kept saying 'kitty' and was answered each time with a 'mew!'. Eventually the mews were coming from right at my feet, and I reached into a collection of knee length grass and wrapped my hand around a damp, fuzzy creature and pulled it out.

I brought the shaking, little mewing ball of fluff home and that's pretty much where he's been ever since! Of course, to keep you up to date, the road I was on was pretty deserted, very few houses are around, and there's a dump about a half a mile back. I'm 100% sure my little man was dropped off because someone didn't want a kitten anymore.

I named him Wyatt, I thought that was a pretty cute 'cowboy' type name. :)

He's made his home in my heart as well as my soldier's heart, and I think J asks about him more than he does me! Ha!

So meet my little man, Wyatt.

Care Package #1

First care package for my soldier! :)

Care Package #1 - "Deployment Survival Kit"

I found a few ideas on good 'ole Pinterest () and decided to go with a few cute ones, things I know he'll look at and smile! Knowing my soldier he may even shed a few tears :').

First, I did the "52 Reasons Why I Love You" on a deck of cards:

I found that I wish I had used one of the even sharper writing Sharpies... the one I used was a bit too thick! I had fun writing all the different things, it took me a while because I wanted them to be really thoughtful, and I even put some of my favorite memories with him on them, too!

The second item I'm putting in this package is a planner I picked up at WalMart filled to the brim with a ton of different quotes, scriptures, memories, important dates, pictures, stickers & little notes of encouragement! This was SO much fun to make for him, and I know he'll love it!

These are just two things I'm putting in there, as well as the staples he asked for (candy, beef jerky, body wash, gum, MIO drink enhancers & of course, pictures for his chu [Containerized Housing Unit])

Speaking of MIO, my soldier became ADDICTED to these months ago and absolutely loves them.. I'm not the biggest fan, but I can find them on sale at the store every once in a while, and when I do I stock up.

Keep Calm

I love mine :)

Consult the flow chart, ladies.

Aaaaand, it's just that simple.
This made me smile a little bit! Always look at the bright side of things, it makes it all so much easier I'm finding :)

Just want to show off...

...some pre-deployment pictures we had taken!

We recently moved into an apartment and the walls are very bare naked! I so wanted to have some pictures taken of us, so I asked my cousin who's really good with a camera to take some. I planned out a session, picked out some clothes and we did it. Here's the final product, and maybe a way for you all to get to know my soldier & I.

J is a firefighter as well as a soldier so it only seemed fitting to do some with his bunker gear and the firetrucks at the fire station :)

Hello & Welcome!

Hey everyone! I'm new to blogging, but it's something I've always wanted to do & I've always enjoyed reading blogs about many different interests and activities. So, when my soldier left for deployment I decided I would start a blog to help pass some time, find some people who are going through the same thing, post the things I send him and any tips or information I found useful. :)

Here are a few little things to get to know me better!

I overuse smilie faces and hearts. :) <3

I'm a beginning photographer. Check out www.graceboven.com.

I'm going to school for businesss, to know how to start and run my own photography business.

I have two horses, Laycee & Kash. They will probably make cameos in the blog!

My soldier and I got a kitten before he deployed, his name is Wyatt and is a pesky little teenager now.

Reading is one of my passions, I try to read at least a book every two weeks (depending on free time!)

I LOVE PINTEREST.

Soo, that's a little about me. I'm gonna miss my soldier so very much but I'm ready for this journey of counting down the days until he's home for good...
